Blessed Columba Marmion, born Joseph Aloysius Marmion (April 1, 1858 - January 30, 1923) was an Irish monk, and the third abbot of Maredsous Abbey. Beatified by Pope John Paul II on September 3, 2000, Marmion was one of the most popular and influential Catholic writers of the 20th century. His books are considered spiritual classics. What is the most important thing about the Nativity of Jesus Christ, the Babe in the Manger. We have a wonderful exchange with Jesus - Christ takes our human nature and gives us in return a participation of His Divine nature.

Father George continues his road on the direction of our souls according to Blessed Don Marmion. The ways of God are entirely different from our ways. To us it seems necessary to employ powerful means in order to produce great effects. This is not God's method; quite the contrary. He likes to choose the weakest instruments that He may confound the strong: "God chose what is weak in the world to shame the strong - Infirma mundi elegit ut confundat fortia". Here is an example to help you understand the efficacy of the Rosary. You remember the story of David who vanquished Goliath. What steps did the young Israelite take to overthrow the giant? He struck him in the middle of the forehead with a pebble from his sling. 

Father George tells us the Latin phrase “Extra Ecclesiam nulla salus” means: “Outside the Church there is no salvation”. Catholics interprets this to mean that "all salvation comes from Christ the Head through the Church which is his Body." CCC 830 for a context that will help in understanding these three essential points concerning this teaching - There is no salvation apart from Christ and his One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic Church. Again, this is an infallible teaching and not up for debate among Catholics. Those who are “invincibly” ignorant concerning the truth of #1 above will not be culpable for this lack of knowledge before God. Those in the category of #2 have the real possibility of salvation even if they never come to an explicit knowledge of Christ and/or his Church. 

There are many miracles that have taken place in the lives of people who are exposed to Mary’s Miraculous Medal. Stories of conversion, salvation, healings, etc., are very common to those who wear and promote this blessed sacramental. One of the greatest of these stories is the story of Claude Newman, a black man from Arkansas who was born in 1923. Father George takes a quick look at the life, and death, of this amazing child of the Blessed Virgin Mary. “The Lady told me that in Communion, I will only see what looks like a piece of bread. But she told me that it is really and truly Her Son, and that He will be with me just as He was with her before He was born in Bethlehem. She told me that I should spend my time like she did during her lifetime with Him".

The Holiness of Marriage - CCC 1601 "The matrimonial covenant, by which a man and a woman establish between themselves a partnership of the whole of life, is by its nature ordered toward the good of the spouses and the procreation and education of offspring; this covenant between baptised persons has been raised by Christ the Lord to the dignity of a sacrament." 1603 "The intimate community of life and love which constitutes the married state has been established by the Creator and endowed by him with its own proper laws. . . . God himself is the author of marriage." The vocation to marriage is written in the very nature of man and woman as they came from the hand of the Creator. Marriage is not a purely human institution despite the many variations it may have undergone through the centuries in different cultures and social structures.ure.

St. Louis Mary Grignon de Montfort (1673-1716), is author of this tract. While giving missions in the city of Nantes in 1708, this eloquent preacher of the Cross and devout slave of Jesus in Mary formed, from the most fervent souls among his audiences, SEPIA SACRED HEART an association of "The Friends of the Cross." This fraternity or association was established in the localities evangelized by the holy Missionary to fight against the many disorders and vices of the times and to make reparation for the outrages perpetrated against the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Each time he visited these places he exhorted the members to persevere in their first fervor. Alas! Suddenly he was forbidden to preach to them. Through intrigues, machinations and calumny his arch enemies, the Jansenists [1], prevailed to have their redoubtable adversary silenced.

In this epistle he gives us a holy doctrine which he preached and lived all his life thus imitating his Divine Master, Jesus Christ. It is believed that as a seminarian he wrote those two wonderful poems: "The Strength of Patience" (39 stanzas) and the "Triumph of the Cross" (31 stanzas). As a young priest he wrote his first book, "Love of Eternal Wisdom," and in its beautiful fourteenth chapter, "The Triumph of Eternal Wisdom in the Cross and by the Cross," is demonstrated the author's great love for the Folly of the Cross. In his allocution on St. de Montfort, quoted above, the Holy Father said: "Being crucified himself he has a perfect right to speak with authority on Christ Crucified.

St Leonard of Port Maurice (1676-1751) was a most holy Franciscan friar who lived at the monastery of St Bonaventure in Rome. He was one of the greatest missioners in the history of the Church. He used to preach to thousands in the open square of every city and town where the churches could not hold his listeners. So brilliant and holy was his eloquence that once when he gave a two weeks' mission in Rome, the Pope and College of Cardinals came to hear him. The Immaculate Conception of the BVM, the adoration of the Blessed Sacrament and the veneration of the Sacred Heart of Jesus were his crusades. He was in no small way responsible for the definition of the Immaculate Conception made a little more than a hundred years after his death. One of St Leonard most famous sermons was "The Little Number of Those Who Are Saved."

St Leonard of Port Maurice (1676-1751) was a most holy Franciscan friar who lived at the monastery of St Bonaventure in Rome. One of Saint Leonard of Port Maurice's most famous sermons was "The Little Number of Those Who Are Saved." It was the one he relied on for the conversion of great sinners. This sermon, like his other writings, was submitted to canonical examination during the process of canonisation. In it he reviews the various states of life of Christians and concludes with the little number of those who are saved, in relation to the totality of men. The reader who meditates on this remarkable text will grasp the soundness of its argumentation, which has earned it the approbation of the Church. As the title tells us this theological study is all about "life everlasting" which is the final end of man in this life. First, he has to realise that his happiness in this life can never be realised as he has been made for God. No earthly good can satisfy man! God has made man so that man can only be happy with in the love of God. This will be perfected when man sees God face to face. Here on earth, it is a struggle for man to know God. This is why he needs to realise that he must deny himself and live only for God. God in His great love for man gives man the supernatural help of sanctifying grace and the infused virtues of faith, hope and charity to make it easier for man to overcome any disordered love in his life. God also uses the sufferings of life to purify the soul and make it realise that it was not made for happiness here in this life. 

Death is the most important time of our life for upon it depends our eternal life either in heaven or hell. We want to make sure that we have repented of our all our mortal sins for those in mortal sin who die in final impenitence will be lost in hell for all eternity. The gift of final perseverance cannot be merited and is defined: that gift which makes the moment of death coincide with the state of grace, either continued or restored. Fr. Lagrange tells us: “St. Augustine adds that this gift is not given to us according to our merits, but according to the will of God, a will very secret, very wise, very beneficent. Only to God does it belong to give it, since He alone determines the end of our life. But this gift, even if it cannot be merited, can be obtained by humble supplication.”

Father Reginald Garrigou-Lagrange says in his book, Life Everlasting: “This universal judgment is presented as the work of Christ, above all in the great discourse on the end of the world, as preserved by the three Evangelists. [145] ‘When the Son of man comes in His glory and all His angels with Him, then shall He sit on the seat of His majesty. And all nations shall be gathered together before Him, and He shall separate them one from another, as the shepherd separateth the sheep from the goats.’ The Catechism of the Council of Trent [169] says in substance: Divine justice wills that the good recover their reputation, often attacked by the wicked who triumph. Further, the body, as well as the soul, must receive the punishment or the reward which it merits. Hence the general judgement must follow the general resurrection. 

Purgatory: “The Council (Trent) affirms the necessity of satisfaction for sins committed after baptism: satisfaction in the form of fasting, of almsgiving, of prayer, and of other exercises of the spiritual life. These satisfactions are not meant for the eternal punishment, which was remitted by the sacrament of penance or by the desire of the sacrament, but for the remission of temporal punishment, which is not always remitted entirely, as it is in baptism.” “The doctrine of purgatory is one of wisdom and consolation. It emphasizes the sanctity and majesty of God, since nothing soiled can appear before Him. It fortifies our sense of justice. It manifests the disorder, often unperceived, of venial faults. Faith in purgatory purifies us here on earth.” 

The Church teaches as a doctrine of faith, defined by Benedict XII: "The souls of all the saints are in heaven before the resurrection of the body and the general judgment. They see the divine essence by a vision which is intuitive and facial, without the intermediation of any creature in that view. By this vision they enjoy the divine essence, they are truly blessed, they have eternal life and repose." St. Thomas defines the object of beatitude as follows: "It is that perfect good which completely satiates the desire of the rational being." [549] He continues thus: "Only the uncreated and infinite good can satisfy fully the desire of a creature which conceives universal good." All theologians admit that subjective beatitude consists in a vital union with God through the higher faculties, intelligence and will, that is, in the beatific vision and love which follows it. P. 218

Immediately after the tribulation of those days, the sun shall be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of heaven shall be moved.” Mt. At the end of the world, the earth will be destroyed by fire. II The sound of the trumpet will be so solemn that it will cause the earth to tremble. “Arise ye dead, come to the judgment.” The devils and the lost souls will shrink in despair and say, “How can we possibly endure the shame.” “The souls of the just will re-unite with their bodies: ‘Blessed be thou my chosen companion, who has been so faithful to me. Blessed be my senses and all thy members, for they have ever abstained from evil.’ And the body will reply, ‘Be thou rather blessed, O dearest soul, for it was by thy instigation I did so, and thou didst incite me to all that was good.

WE must not, as some do, picture to ourselves Heaven as a purely spiritual realm. For Heaven is a definite place, where not only God is, and the Angels now are, but where Christ is also in His sacred humanity, and Our Lady with her human body. There, too, all the blessed will dwell with their glorified bodies after the Last Judgement. If Heaven is a definite locality, it must accordingly be a visible, not a spiritual kingdom ; for a place must in its nature be to some extent conformable to those who abide in it. Besides, we know that after the Last Judgement he Saints will behold Heaven with their bodily eyes, and consequently it must be a visible kingdom. We are ignorant of what the material structure of Heaven will be composed, we only know that it will be something infinitely superior.

Fatima has been called the "Gospel in miniature." What Mary taught us at Fatima is what the Church has always taught. Our Lady brings us a message from Our Lord and teaches us a simple way to fulfill what He is asking of us. Jesus modelled this way of living and told us in John 13:15, "As I have done, you also should do," and in Matthew 16:24, "Take up your cross and follow me." Our Lady simply reminds us to start embracing the daily crosses presented to us and that true love is an offering of self to God and to others. As we accept the sufferings and inconveniences that come to us naturally, and offer these sacrifices for souls, we naturally become less self-focused and, therefore, grow in our ability to love and be loved by others and God. The result is a lasting joy in our dignity in belonging to Christ, peace with those around us, and union with Our Lord. 

The most important dimension of the Fátima event was not the supernatural and preternatural phenomena but the content and the meaning of the message communicated to the children. By following this message their spiritual lives were elevated to the heights of sanctity, to which the beatification of Jacinta and Francisco testifies, and the hope and possibility of the conversion of the world from its ruinous course was offered to mankind. This message can be seen as comprising two essential elements, to which all others can be related in some way. The first of these elements is the singular role of the Immaculate One in the economy of salvation, a dogmatic fact. God does not have whims, and so the request of the Almighty that devotion to the Immaculate Heart be established in the world must be founded on reality.

"Fatima is one of the greatest signs of the times in the 20th century because it announces many of the later events, and conditions them on the response to its appeals," said the Pope in his Fatima letter of October 13, 1991 (L'Osservatore Romano, October 24, 1991). His Holiness said the greatness of Fatima lies not so much in the miracle, but that it offers the specific response necessary to save mankind from self-destruction. Many books have been written about the miracle and about these messages which are of vital importance to every man, woman and child on earth. To better know the message of Fatima, and to continue to discover its meaning in relation to current events, we present here all the words of the apparitions, with answers to some of the questions. 

According to Exodus in the Old Testament, God issued his own set of laws (the Ten Commandments) to Moses on Mount Sinai. In Catholicism, the Ten Commandments are considered divine law because God himself revealed them. And because they were spelled out specifically with no room for ambiguity, they’re also positive law. Hence they’re also known as divine positive law. The 6th and 9th commandments honour human sexuality. This commandment forbids the actual, physical act of having immoral sexual activity, specifically adultery, which is sex with someone else’s spouse or a spouse cheating on their partner. This commandment also includes fornication, (sex between unmarried people), prostitution, pornography, homosexual activity, masturbation, group sex, rape, incest, paedophilia, bestiality, and necrophilia.
